1. Soak everything that you can.
With most gas stoves, you are going to be able to take the burners and pans under the burners off. Put them in a pail filled with boiling water and detergent to soak while you are cleaning the rest of the stove.
2. Spray down the rest of the surfaces with the toughest cleaner in your cabinet.
You need something that is going to cut through the grease. Don't forget to clean the walls around the stove, too
3. Take a 15 petite break to let the cleaners soak into the mess.
You can stretch the time to an hour if there is something good on Tv, just make sure that no one tries to cook on the stove before you have time to wipe the cleaner off.
4. Now, the hard work begins.
Scrub off the grease using a soft bristled brush and hot water. You may have to spray more cleaner on the tough to clean areas.
5. Rinse off your stove, and then rinse it again.
A lot of the cleaners out there are very flammable, so you want to make sure that it all gets washed off.
6. Turn your attention to the burners.
They have been soaking in the hot water for a while now, so now it is time to give them a good scrub. You don't have to worry about scratching anything, so use the roughest brush possible.
7. Put your stove back together and give it one final rinse with warm water.
The stove is ultimately cleaned; next you will have to clean your oven, which is a lot more complex and dirty!
What is your cleaning style - do you clean your stove after each meal or do you wait until it is a greasy mess to tackle it?
